As for your claim about Star Wars Battlefront, I don't think this is true.

On that day NVIDIA provided beta display drivers with full Open GL 4.6 support.
You should be able to run it just fine on any recent version of NVIDIA drivers, it's just that the very latest cutting edge ones are "game ready" for Battlefront, which means that you "may" get slightly improved performance.
