FWIW the fear of crushing is not a negative, it's just the reality of being big.
At 6 feet 220 I'm bigger than most girls and in general prefer not to crush them.
I am a bit skeptical that the average person is capable of eyeballing height with much accuracy.
In the past voluptuous women were seen as more attractive than thin women. (I'm not just tall but I'm also built with very big features. She says that she likes me being so much bigger than she is.
There is a theory that it comes down to two factors: Petite women are sexy. Honestly though, I'm first attracted to personality, then body type. She says that my big hands make her feel smaller (weight-wise) and that she feels safe with me because no body typically messes with me.
I wouldn't say no to a girl who's actually curvy, but I tend to accept a lot more thin than most of my friends.3) As a thin dude myself, being with a small woman maintains a more "normal" weight and strength ratio.
I can still pick up small girls and carry them around.
But big AND petite (yet proportioned) women can be just as attractive, if not moreso.
Back in the Renaissance days or whatever, thicker women (who still fulfilled 0.7) was the "hot" preference. Too frail or small isn't healthy looking and therefore not attractive.4) Do you enjoy hugging petite women?
(My boyfriend has commented that it's hard to hug me, because I'm so much shorter than him and can't wrap my arms around his neck.
I was a bit offended because I thought it was a really intimate hug, but I guess he felt differently). Especially the hugging thing, if we can completely envelop you with our hug, we feel extra manly and protective. A petite makes a average wang look big, and a big wang look huge.
I don't have a height requirement beyond not wanting to date guys shorter than I am (and guys shorter than me are incredibly rare) but I still notice height differences of a few inches.
